Sinaloa political leaders prepare for 2027 electoral cycle

Political activity is intensifying in Sinaloa ahead of the 2027 electoral process. Robespierre Lizárraga Otero, president of the Partido Sinaloense (PAS), has not ruled out running for governor, stating he is prepared to participate within the appropriate legal and political timelines. Lizárraga Otero noted his previous experience as a local deputy, councilman, and university director. He emphasized that PAS is undergoing internal restructuring and has established municipal committees in key areas including Ahome, Mazatlán, Guasave, Culiacán, and Angostura.

Meanwhile, the PRI in Sinaloa has criticized the Morena party regarding the cancellation of Andrés Manuel López Beltrán’s U.S. visa. PRI leader César Emiliano Gerardo Lugo accused Morena of a double standard, noting the contrast between their reaction to the visa cancellation and the federal government's stance toward political critics. Gerardo Lugo called for legal transparency and equality, arguing that no individual should be above the law regardless of political affiliation, while also addressing concerns regarding freedom of expression and the identification of critical voices in digital ecosystems.
