Sinaloa rainfall boosts dam capacity to 43 percent

Heavy rainfall has significantly impacted northern Sinaloa, with the Villa de Ahome station recording 136 millimeters of precipitation. Other notable accumulations include 55 millimeters in Los Mochis and 23.5 millimeters in Higuera de Zaragoza.

According to reports from the Comisión Nacional del Agua (Conagua), the state's dam system is recovering, reaching approximately 43 percent of its total storage capacity. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous year, with a total reserve of 6,678 million cubic meters.

Specific dam updates show the Huites dam at 54.4 percent capacity and the Gustavo Díaz Ordaz dam at 53.1 percent. The Adolfo López Mateos dam has also benefited from runoff in the mountainous regions. While the rainfall is contributing favorably to water reserves, officials note that the full impact on reservoirs will depend on runoff from higher basin areas in the coming days.
