Sinaloa science council receives donation of petrified wood fossils

Researchers and private citizens have donated a collection of paleobotanical material, consisting of 84 pieces of petrified wood, to the Sinaloa State Science Council (CONFÍE) for custody and exhibition.

The handover ceremony took place at the Bacubirito Meteorite Sanctuary within the Sinaloa Science Center museum in Culiacán. The donation was provided by Dr. Bernardino López Zamorano, Ladislao Romero Bojórquez, and Mariana Consuelo Romero Utrilla.

Dr. Samuel Octavio Ojeda Gastélum, Director General of CONFÍE, emphasized the organization's commitment to protecting national material and immaterial heritage alongside the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). Dr. Servando Rojo Quintero, director of the state INAH center, noted that Sinaloa possesses significant paleontological and archaeological heritage.
