Sinaloa security operations seize machine gun, 6,000 rounds and charge suspect in femicide

Federal security forces in Sinaloa, including the Secretariat of Security and Protection, the Federal Attorney General's Office and the Mexican Army, detained a man identified as a member of a criminal faction in Culiacán. During the operation agents seized a machine gun, roughly 6,000 usable cartridges, several magazines and other evidence of illegal activity. The weapons and the suspect were handed over to a federal prosecutor for further investigation.

The State Attorney General of Sinaloa, through its specialized unit for violence against women, placed a man identified as Misael Humberto “N” under criminal process for aggravated femicide and attempted homicide. The alleged crimes occurred on 15 May 2026 when the suspect arrived by motorcycle at a Culiacán residence, opened fire on a woman, injuring her, and subsequently shot a 71‑year‑old woman who died from her wounds. A judge ordered preventive detention and set a four‑month deadline for completing additional investigations.
