Sinaloa to host Indigenous Peoples celebration in El Fuerte

The government of Sinaloa, through the Secretariat of Welfare and Sustainable Development (SEBIDES) and the Commission for the Attention to Indigenous Peoples of Sinaloa (COPACIS), will host a celebration of Indigenous Peoples on August 29 and 30 in Sibirijoa, located in the municipality of El Fuerte.

Francisco Javier Barrón Aguayo, head of SEBIDES, stated that the two-day event aims to preserve traditions, strengthen cultural identity, and honor original peoples. The celebration is expected to draw more than 2,000 participants and visitors to the Centro Ceremonial Virgen de los Dolores.

Sinaloa is home to approximately 35 indigenous groups, including four native to the state: the Mayo-yoremes, Tepehuanos, Triquis, and part of the Tarahumaras. The event will showcase the region's cultural richness through art, dance, and gastronomy.
