Coahuila former officials linked to organized crime process

A federal judge has linked five former public officials from Coahuila to criminal proceedings for organized crime and money laundering. The investigation, initiated by a complaint from the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) in November 2025, involves allegations of operating with resources of illicit origin.

Among those processed is José Elías Gánem Guerrero, the former Secretary of the City Council of Torreón. Other individuals facing charges include Martha Rodríguez Romero, former director of the Municipal Justice Center; José Feliciano Hernández Hinojo, a former driver and bodyguard for Gánem; as well as Farid Ali Ibarra Nassar and Georgina Ramírez Chacón.

The judge imposed mandatory pretrial detention for all five defendants. Martha Rodríguez Romero and Georgina Ramírez Chacón were transferred to the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 16 (CPS Femenil Morelos), while José Elías Gánem Guerrero, José Feliciano Hernández Hinojo, and Farid Ali Ibarra Nassar were sent to Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 13 (CPS Oaxaca). A three-month period has been granted for complementary investigations.
