Sindaci d’Italia political movement launched in Italy
A new political movement, ‘Sindaci d’Italia’, has been officially launched to advocate for the interests of local administrators and municipalities within the national political agenda. Founded in Assisi by a network of local and former local administrators, the movement aims to address citizen disaffection and rising abstentionism by bringing the concrete experiences of communities to the forefront of national policy.
Ernesto Magorno, a former deputy, will preside over the party. The movement includes various political backgrounds and notable figures such as Angelo Alessandri, a former Lega parliamentarian, and Paolo Amenta, president of ANCI Sicilia. The group seeks to ensure that municipalities are no longer treated as mere peripheries of the state but are recognized as the ‘beating heart’ of the country. The party’s first national assembly is scheduled to take place in Rome on October 26-27.
