Sindh government restores two‑day weekend for schools, ending six‑day week

The provincial government of Sindh, Pakistan, has reversed its earlier policy that required schools to operate six days a week. Effective immediately, all public and private schools will be closed on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved the change, which extends daily teaching hours by one hour from Monday to Friday to compensate for the lost classroom time. The government said the adjustment is part of cost‑saving and austerity measures aimed at more efficient use of public resources while maintaining educational standards.
