Sindh motorway projects to begin construction this year
Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has announced that construction on new motorways in Sindh is expected to begin this year. The projects include the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway, which is slated to start from Sukkur and be completed within two years, and a new motorway connecting Karachi and Hyderabad that will be separate from the existing M-9 motorway.
During a meeting with the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance, the minister addressed concerns regarding the transport sector. He stated that the government plans to provide dedicated truck stands and develop rest areas equipped with essential facilities for drivers.
While promising to resolve genuine transporter concerns and prevent unfair traffic fines, Khan emphasized that operators must comply with legal requirements, specifically regarding approved axle-load limits to prevent road damage and safety risks. These infrastructure developments aim to improve connectivity and support trade and economic activity across the province.
