Sindh police suspend officers and ban unauthorized SHO postings

Authorities in Sindh have taken disciplinary actions against police leadership following allegations of misconduct and failures in law enforcement. In Karachi, Additional Inspector General Azad Khan suspended two Station House Officers (SHOs). Wilayat Ali Shah of the Sachal police station was suspended for failing to curb robberies and allegedly misrepresenting facts to senior officials. Separately, Gul Hassan Kalhoro of the New Town police station was suspended over allegations of extortion involving a hearing-impaired individual and a failure to maintain order.

In a broader administrative move, the Inspector General of Police, Sindh, issued directives through DIG Sukkur Aftab Khan to reform the appointment of station leadership. The directives strictly prohibit the posting of constables, head constables, or Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) as SHOs. All postings must now strictly adhere to official Police Rules and eligibility criteria. Supervisory officers will be held personally responsible for any unauthorized postings, and district officials have been ordered to submit compliance reports within three days.
