Sindipetro-RJ leads protest against major oil and gas auction

Sindipetro-RJ, environmentalists, and social movements have organized a protest against an upcoming oil and gas auction scheduled to take place at the headquarters of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in Rio de Janeiro.

The auction is expected to be one of the largest in history, involving the potential transfer of at least 326 blocks to the private sector. Protesters argue that the auction threatens national sovereignty over strategic resources and risks environmental destruction for the sake of foreign multinational profits. The organizers emphasize that the country's petroleum wealth should serve the Brazilian people rather than acting as a bargaining chip for the financial market.
