Amazonas prepares for 2026 elections with logistical and legal reinforcements
Preparations for the 2026 general elections in Amazonas are entering critical stages. The Regional Electoral Court (TRE-AM) is managing the logistics of distributing electronic voting machines across the state, utilizing fluvial, terrestrial, and aerial transport to reach remote municipalities. This operation must account for regional challenges such as river low tides, high temperatures, and energy supply.
In 11 municipalities that follow the Acre time zone, voting will occur from 6:00 to 15:00 local time to ensure synchronized national results. Additionally, the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) has established the Extraordinary Electoral Action Nucleus (NAE-Eleitoral) to provide technical, legal, and administrative support to electoral prosecutors, particularly in complex cases or areas with high demand.
In the Palmital region, the Electoral Court has completed the preparation and sealing of 81 voting machines to serve local voters, with an audit scheduled to ensure system transparency.
