Sinelibri festival features literary film adaptations

The twelfth edition of the Sinelibri film-literary festival is running until November 8, featuring various cinematic adaptations of literary works.

Key screenings include a new feature film adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s classic Polish novel ‘The Doll’ (Lalka), directed by Maciej Kawalski. The film, which depicts life in 19th-century Warsaw, has seen significant commercial success in Poland, attracting over 600,000 viewers in its first week.

Also featured is the Japanese-French drama ‘All the Lovers in the Night’, based on the novel by Mieko Kawakami and directed by Yukiko Sode. The film explores themes of first love alongside human paradoxes and deception. Additionally, Ulrike Ottinger’s ‘The Bloody Countess’, starring Isabelle Huppert as Countess Bathory, is part of the festival selection.
