Sines hosts regional meeting on migrant integration

The third 'AIMA em Rede' Regional Meeting was held in Sines on September 23 to address the integration of migrant communities and local-level responses. Organized by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) in partnership with the Municipality of Sines and the Cape Verdean Association of Sines and Santiago do Cacém, the event brought together central and local government representatives, civil society, and social partners.

Discussions focused on key challenges facing migrant populations, including Portuguese language acquisition, access to employment, housing, education, and public services. The meeting also aimed to improve coordination between various agencies and provide capacity-building for stakeholders involved in migrant support.

AIMA currently operates a support network consisting of 36 directly managed offices and 23 'AIMA Spaces' run in partnership with municipalities, alongside Local Support Centres for Migrant Integration (CLAIM).
