Sineu prepares security for La Mucada festival in Mallorca

The town of Sineu in Mallorca is preparing for the annual celebration of La Mucada, an event expected to attract between 12,000 and 15,000 people. To ensure public safety, Mayor Tomeu Mulet announced a security deployment involving approximately one hundred personnel, including the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, and private security services.

The security operation will include controls at the town hall to prevent the entry of cans and bottles, as well as medical support through an ambulance and a field hospital established in the Ses Solls area. Authorities are particularly focused on the late evening period, around 9:00 PM, as crowds begin to depart. To manage the return of attendees, security will be increased at the railway station, and a pedestrian walkway will be used to channel people toward the trains.

Originally started in 2004 by a group of friends, La Mucada has evolved from a small gathering into a major cultural event. The festivities are centered around the legend of the Much de Reig and the Muca, featuring rituals such as a pilgrimage to Puig de Reig and satirical parodies of traditional Balearic festivities. The celebration is characterized by its use of the color pink and a blend of local folklore with humor.
