Sinfonietta MIQ to launch 2026 season in Guanajuato

The Sinfonietta MIQ, the chamber ensemble of the Museo Iconográfico del Quijote, will launch its 2026 season on August 27 in Guanajuato. Directed by Juan Trigos, the opening program features works by Mendelssohn, Bartók, Respighi, and Villa-Lobos.

A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of ‘Alle correnti’ (A las corrientes), a piece composed specifically for the ensemble by the season's resident composer, Luca Cori. The repertoire spans various historical periods, including Villa-Lobos’s ‘Choros bis’, Bartók’s ‘Romanian Folk Dances’, Mendelssohn’s ‘String Symphony No. 10 in B minor’, and Respighi’s ‘Suite III’ from ‘Antiche danze ed arie per liuto’.
