Singapore Airlines reports 46,000 booking records affected by Amadeus breach
Singapore Airlines has announced that approximately 46,000 booking records were potentially compromised following a cybersecurity incident involving Amadeus, its reservation technology provider. The exposed data includes customer names, booking reference numbers, travel itineraries, and booking classes.
For roughly 620 of these records, more sensitive information may have been accessed, such as email addresses, phone numbers, travel document details, and KrisFlyer membership numbers. Amadeus has confirmed that bank account and credit card information was not leaked, and no bookings were modified during the incident.
Singapore Airlines stated that its own IT systems were not breached and that the incident was confined to the Amadeus platform. As a precaution, the airline is contacting affected customers with upcoming travel to advise them to change their booking reference numbers.
This incident follows similar reports from other carriers, including Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Asiana Airlines, and Malaysia Airlines, which have all indicated that customer data was impacted by the Amadeus vulnerability.
