Singapore Airlines sued after passenger chokes on wooden skewer

Former Thai child pop star Briohny Smyth, now a yoga instructor, filed a federal lawsuit in Los Angeles against Singapore Airlines. She alleges that a wooden chicken satay skewer served in first class broke, and a 1.5‑inch fragment lodged in her throat during the flight, causing severe pain, violent coughing, and lasting vocal‑cord injury. The complaint cites persistent throat discomfort, vocal fatigue, and emotional distress, claiming loss of earning capacity as a professional singer.

Smyth seeks compensation for past and future medical costs, lost earnings, and emotional distress. Singapore Airlines said it could not comment on the pending litigation.
