Singapore announces educator awards and Chennai investigates student assault

In Singapore, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli announced the introduction of the President's Award for early childhood educators starting in 2027. The award aims to recognize individuals who have made a lasting and creative impact on the early childhood education landscape, beyond their specific roles or institutions.

Additionally, the Minister highlighted the ‘Quality Early Childhood Schools 2030’ advisory committee, which will focus on improving policy, research, and teaching methods. During a celebration for early childhood professionals, awards were presented to 28 specialists and centers in the field.

In India, the School Education Department has launched an investigation following an incident in Porur, Chennai, where school students allegedly assaulted a city bus driver. The confrontation reportedly began when the driver, aged 52, advised students to stop standing on the steps of the bus and move inside for safety. The students subsequently surrounded and attacked the driver, leading to police intervention and the handover of the students to the Valasaravakkam police station.
