Singapore Army unveils SIGMA 155mm howitzer and precision strike systems
The Singapore Army has introduced the SIGMA 155mm L/52 truck-mounted howitzer and the ‘Precision Land Shooter’ missile platform to modernize its land-based fire capabilities. These systems are part of a broader modernization effort for the 6th Singapore Division, which also includes Leopard 2SG tanks and HIMARS rocket systems.
The SIGMA 155mm howitzer, developed by Elbit Systems, features an automated uncrewed turret mounted on a 10x10 heavy truck chassis. The system is designed to replace the existing SSPH Primus and FH-2000 artillery systems. It allows for mechanical and digital control of ammunition loading and firing, enabling a crew of three to operate from a protected armored cabin. The system supports a rapid ‘shoot-and-scoot’ capability, with a transition time of approximately one minute.
The ‘Precision Land Shooter’ is intended to provide faster and more accurate targeting capabilities. Together, these technologies represent a strategic shift toward rapid tactical deployment, crew protection, and high-precision layered fire within the Singaporean defense doctrine.
