Singapore COE premiums rise, with Category A nearing record highs
Singapore's Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums rose across most categories in the August 19 tender exercise. Category A premiums, which apply to smaller cars and certain electric vehicles, increased by 3.7 per cent to S$128,501. This price is nearly at the record high of S$129,000 set in July.
Other increases were noted in Category B (larger/more powerful cars), which rose 0.8 per cent to S$131,001, and Category E (Open category), which climbed 3.1 per cent to S$135,000. Motorcycle premiums (Category D) saw the largest percentage jump, rising 7.6 per cent to S$11,301. The only category to see a decline was Category C (commercial vehicles), which fell 1.7 per cent to S$90,002.
A total of 4,515 bids were submitted for a quota of 3,205 certificates. While the Land Transport Authority slightly increased the overall three-month quota for the August to October quarter to 19,085, the high demand continues to drive up costs for most vehicle types.
