Singapore expands quantum computing capabilities through new partnerships
Singapore is strengthening its quantum computing infrastructure through strategic academic and international agreements. Singapore Management University (SMU) has signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding with QpiAI, granting the institution direct access to the Kaveri 64-qubit quantum computer and the QCloud platform. This partnership makes SMU the first local Institute of Higher Learning to access such full-stack quantum infrastructure, focusing on research in fintech, capital markets, smart city applications, and quantum-safe cybersecurity.
Additionally, Singapore is slated to become the first country outside the United States to host Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer. The installation is expected to be completed by 2026, providing researchers with cloud access to the system to build local expertise in quantum hardware, software, and applications.
