Singapore F1 Grand Prix faces haze threat from Indonesian forest fires

The 2026 Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix, scheduled for October 9–11 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, faces potential disruption due to transboundary haze caused by forest fires in Indonesia’s Kalimantan and Sumatra regions. The risk is heightened by dry weather conditions and the influence of El Nino.

Singapore GP organizers stated that haze risks are included in their contingency plans. The Singapore government’s Haze Task Force is working closely with event organizers to monitor air quality indices and prepare for impacts on visibility, public health, and race operations. Preparedness measures include providing medical assistance and N95 masks to spectators and crew if conditions deteriorate.

No decision has been made to cancel the event. Authorities will assess the situation collectively if haze affects visibility or safety, similar to the 2019 event where races proceeded despite unhealthy air quality levels.
