Singapore films earn record 15 Golden Horse nominations
Singaporean films have achieved a record 15 nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards, surpassing the nation's previous record of 14 nominations set in 2024. Five local productions were recognized: ‘We Are All Strangers’, ‘The Violinist’, ‘Ah Girl’, ‘Buah’, and ‘She Said’.
‘We Are All Strangers’, directed by Anthony Chen, led the contingent with seven nominations, including Best Narrative Feature, Best Director, Best Leading Actress for Yeo Yann Yann, and Best Supporting Actor for Andi Lim WeiWen. The film is the final installment of Chen’s ‘Growing Up’ trilogy and was recently selected as Singapore’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards.
Additionally, the animated feature ‘The Violinist’ and the film ‘Ah Girl’ each received three nominations. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) noted that the nominations reflect the talent and vibrancy of Singapore’s film ecosystem.
