Singapore fintech developments: Stablecoin pilots and regional AI training
In Singapore, Visa and Nium are collaborating under the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s BLOOM initiative to pilot seven-day stablecoin settlements. The project aims to enable programmable cross-border payments that function on weekends and public holidays using regulated stablecoins backed by major currencies like the US dollar and euro. Maybank Singapore has also joined the initiative to assist in developing infrastructure for tokenized payments.
Concurrently, the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA) has appointed new advisory council members from UOB, Temasek, Enterprise Singapore, and the Economic Development Board (EDB) for a two-year term starting August 2026. These leaders will provide guidance on fintech trends, including blockchain and regulatory technology.
On a regional level, Vietnam and Singapore are looking to expand cooperation in human resource training to meet the demands of the AI and digital economy. Efforts include connecting technology groups with educational institutions to build a workforce capable of navigating highly information-dense environments and utilizing AI tools effectively.
