Singapore football fans face ticket shortage for ASEAN Cup semifinal

High demand for the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal match between Singapore and Thailand has led to a ticket shortage and significant price gouging. All 4,000 tickets allocated for home fans at Jalan Besar Stadium sold out within one minute of the online sale opening on August 12.

The scarcity is due to the match being moved from the 55,000-capacity National Stadium to the much smaller Jalan Besar Stadium, which holds only 6,000 people. The National Stadium is currently unavailable as it requires time to restore the pitch following National Day parade preparations.

While original ticket prices were listed between 35 SGD and 49 SGD, scalpers on online platforms are reportedly reselling pairs of Category 1 tickets for up to 1,500 SGD. This surge in secondary market prices has sparked frustration among fans, who have criticized the ticket distribution process and the perceived lack of control over automated accounts used by scalpers.
