Singapore High Court rejects CEO's S$468,000 claim against ex-girlfriend
The Singapore High Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Chander Agarwal, CEO of TCI Express Limited, seeking to recover approximately S$468,000 from his former girlfriend, Felicia Lee.
Agarwal claimed the funds, which covered luxury travel, credit card expenses, life insurance premiums, and feng shui services, were interest-free loans provided during their relationship from September 2022 to December 2023. Lee contested the claim, asserting the expenditures were gifts given out of love and affection.
Senior Judge Lee Seiu Kin ruled that the evidence indicated the money was spent voluntarily as gifts. The court noted a lack of documentation proving Lee had agreed to repay the sums. The judge observed that Agarwal had a pattern of providing expensive gifts and suggested that his legal action stemmed from bitterness following the end of the relationship.
