Singapore implements integrated water management model
Singapore has developed an integrated, circular water management system that serves as a global model for addressing water scarcity and wastewater management in major metropolises.
To mitigate vulnerabilities regarding land availability and natural aquifers, the city-state utilizes a strategy known as the ‘Four National Taps’. This system integrates locally harvested rainwater, imported water, NEWater (produced through advanced wastewater treatment), and desalinated seawater. This diversification allows the nation to maintain water security despite rapid population and economic growth.
