Singapore International Film Festival to close with ‘Vintage Violence’ premiere
The 37th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) will conclude its edition on November 1 with the Asian premiere of ‘Vintage Violence’. The film, directed by Eugene Kotlyarenko, stars Cole Sprouse and Kiko Mizuhara. This marks the return of a dedicated festival closing ceremony for the first time since 2014.
‘Vintage Violence’ is a crime-action comedy centered on a livestreamer who discovers 19th-century Levi’s jeans in a Colorado mine. The discovery leads him into the Tokyo denim market and subsequent underworld conflict involving a debt-ridden boyfriend and an exiled yakuza. The film utilizes split screens, livestreams, and text messages to reflect contemporary screen culture.
In addition to the screening at the Capitol Theatre, Kotlyarenko, Sprouse, and Mizuhara will participate in an ‘In Conversation With’ session at the National Museum of Singapore on October 31. The discussion will focus on the film’s production and the actors' experiences with screen acting.
