Singapore Keeps Visa Requirement for Tunisian and Algerian Travelers

Singapore's immigration authorities confirmed that travelers holding Tunisian or Algerian passports must continue to obtain a visa before departing for Singapore. The requirement applies to all purposes, including tourism, business, study and family visits, and does not bar entry but adds a pre‑travel administrative step.

The update, issued on 20 July 2026, notes that while several African nations have been granted simplified entry procedures, Tunisia and Algeria remain on the list of countries whose nationals need a visa. Singapore’s policy, which also includes other African states such as Morocco, Libya, Egypt, Nigeria, Mali, Sudan and Somalia, as well as a range of Middle‑Eastern and Asian nations, is based on regular assessments of migration flows, border security and traveller control measures. A Letter of Introduction may be required in some cases.

The continued visa requirement means Tunisian and Algerian citizens must plan ahead to avoid issues at the airport, while other African travelers can benefit from the new facilitation measures.
