Singapore launches Cybersecurity Strategy 2026

At the 11th Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW), Singapore officials launched the Cybersecurity Strategy 2026 and issued warnings regarding the evolving digital threat landscape. Senior Minister K Shanmugam introduced the new strategy, which adopts a “whole-of-nation approach” to build a resilient and trusted cyberspace. The strategy aims to address emerging challenges such as Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) actors targeting critical infrastructure, the impact of frontier artificial intelligence on cyber offense and defense, and the potential for quantum computing to undermine current encryption standards.

Gwenda Fong, Chief Executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, highlighted that artificial intelligence is a dual-use technology that increases the speed and scale of attacks. She noted that while AI can help defenders “see more, understand faster and to act more effectively,” it also provides adversaries with greater capabilities. Fong emphasized the need for international cooperation, noting that no single entity can see the full picture of modern, interconnected cyber threats.
