Singapore mandates VEP verification for SG Arrival Card starting October 6

Starting October 6, 2026, all foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore via the Woodlands or Tuas land checkpoints must possess a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP). The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is integrating VEP verification into the mandatory SG Arrival Card (SGAC) submission process.

Under this new digital workflow, the SGAC system will automatically screen the VEP status of a foreign vehicle upon submission. If a vehicle lacks a valid permit, travelers will be unable to complete their SGAC application and will instead receive a prompt to apply for a VEP before their trip. This measure is intended to identify missing documentation before motorists reach the border to prevent delays and turn-backs at the checkpoints.

Additionally, the ICA noted that a valid VEP ensures that vehicles have the required motor insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Singapore. While the SGAC is mandatory for most travelers, Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders traveling through land checkpoints are not required to submit one.
