Singapore Minister calls for AI safety regulations
Singapore Minister for Digital Development and Information, Josephine Teo, has emphasized the need to enhance the reliability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure public trust.
Drawing a comparison to the civil aviation industry, Teo suggested that AI may eventually require diverse regulations and safety standards similar to those used to ensure passenger safety in aviation. She noted that while advanced AI safety procedures are currently being developed, they require further research and testing.
Teo also warned of the risks associated with the rapid growth of AI technology, noting that a loss of human control could potentially lead to large-scale cyberattacks and biological terrorism.
