Singapore money laundering auction: Kusama bag sells for S$87,000

A limited-edition Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama pumpkin-shaped bag sold for S$87,000 during an auction of luxury goods seized in connection with Singapore’s S$3 billion money-laundering investigation. The yellow monogram leather item far exceeded its initial valuation of S$12,000 to S$16,000, following an intense 30-minute bidding war that saw 42 last-minute bids.

The auction, organized by Hotlotz, featured 337 handbags and accessories that were all successfully sold, raising a total of more than S$1.1 million. Other notable sales included a Christian Dior Mini Lady Dior crocodile bag for S$20,000 and a Chrome Hearts diamond pendant for S$11,000. While luxury goods saw high demand, high-end real estate seized in the same case failed to attract buyers. This event marks the first in a series of 15 scheduled online auctions for forfeited assets related to the laundering case.
