Singapore National Day celebrations showcase cultural events and special dining menus
Singapore marked its 61st National Day in August with a range of cultural programmes. Filmhouse ran a month‑long “Got Time For Cinema?” series featuring local films, documentaries and conversations, including the 10th‑anniversary screening of *Singapore Minstrel* and a showcase of short films curated by Objectifs. Other highlights included illuminated folklore displays at Light Together Bras Basah, performances at Golden Mile Tower and a retrospective of Anthony Chen’s *Growing Up* trilogy.
At the same time, restaurants and bars rolled out limited‑time National Day menus. Tanglin Cookhouse revived its Ka‑Soh‑inspired fish noodle soup and prawn‑paste chicken wings. Tim Ho Wan offered a “Flavours of Singapore” dim‑sum menu with bak chor rice rolls and salted‑egg sesame balls. French‑chef‑led Moutarde introduced Kaya French toast and kopi‑inspired desserts, while SUSHISAMBA blended Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian elements with local favourites. The specials were available only until the end of August, giving diners a festive culinary experience alongside the national celebrations.
