Singapore police investigate assault on elderly man at East Coast coffee shop

Singapore police are investigating an assault involving a 73-year-old man at a coffee shop on East Coast Road. The incident occurred on August 15 when the elderly man, a regular at the Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle stall, allegedly patted a young girl on the head while walking past her table.

Security footage shows the girl’s father confronting the man and shoving him to the ground. The victim, who has existing mobility issues due to hip and leg injuries, reportedly suffered severe back pain from the fall. While the victim's family expressed distress, the stall owner noted that the elderly man initially expressed a desire to avoid further conflict.

Actor Noah Yap visited the victim and reported that the man is in good spirits and has returned to work, though he is reportedly refusing medical attention. The police have identified a 40-year-old man in connection with the incident and are continuing their investigations.
