Singapore police investigate man suspected of trailing students with smart glasses

Singapore police are investigating a report involving a man suspected of trailing female students near the Marymount MRT station. The investigation follows the circulation of a video on social media platforms, including Reddit and Instagram, which shows a man in a dark T-shirt and black shorts walking behind students wearing uniforms resembling those of Raffles Institution.

In the footage, the man is seen holding a mobile phone close to his chest and pressing the frame of his black-rimmed glasses. Observers have raised concerns that the man may have been using smart glasses or artificial intelligence-enabled eyewear capable of recording video. While the video shows the man turning and walking in the opposite direction upon noticing he was being filmed, it does not definitively prove that any recording took place or that an offense was committed.

Local discussions regarding the incident have highlighted growing public anxiety in Singapore concerning campus safety and the potential misuse of smart technology for unauthorized filming.
