Singapore Premier League: Sailors and Tampines secure wins

Matchday 4 of the Singapore Premier League (SPL) featured significant results for the league leaders and title contenders. Geylang International, the current league leaders, saw their perfect start to the season end with a 0-0 draw against Balestier, leaving them at the top of the table with 10 points.

Lion City Sailors secured a 2-0 away victory against FC Jurong at Jurong East Stadium, ending an eight-match winless drought at that venue. Giovanni Haag opened the scoring with a penalty in the 41st minute, followed by a goal from Shawal Anuar in the 77th minute. Anuar’s strike marked his first league goal of the campaign and continued his streak of scoring in 12 consecutive SPL seasons.

Tampines Rovers also secured a victory, overcoming a first-half deficit to complete a four-goal comeback. Meanwhile, Hougang United continues to struggle near the bottom of the league standings.
