Singapore records joint-highest September temperature of 35.8°C

Singapore recently experienced significant temperature fluctuations, recording a joint-highest September temperature of 35.8°C at the Woodlands Avenue 9 Climate Station. This measurement matches the previous September record set in 2016 and represents the highest September temperature recorded since 1929, excluding data gaps during World War II. However, temperatures dropped below 25°C in some areas the following day due to changes in rainfall, cloud cover, and wind.

Across Southeast Asia, extreme temperature variations have been observed. In Myanmar, the town of Chauk recorded a national record of 48.2°C in April 2024 during a severe heatwave. Other regional extremes include national temperature records in Vietnam at 44.2°C and Cambodia at 42.9°C, contrasted by freezing temperatures in the northern Vietnamese mountain town of Sa Pa, which reached -4.2°C.
