Social media in Singapore has highlighted contrasting experiences regarding the treatment and living conditions of domestic helpers.

One viral vlog features a helper known as Monique, who shared a video showing her employer’s family celebrating her birthday. The footage depicts her performing routine household chores, such as laundry and cooking, before receiving birthday surprises, including a handmade card from one of the children in the household.

In a separate incident, a Singaporean couple faced significant online criticism after posting content about how they accommodated a helper in their four-room HDB flat. The couple shared photos and videos showing the helper’s sleeping area, which consisted of a single bed placed behind a divider in a room used as a home office. While the couple described the setup as a way to provide privacy in a small space, netizens criticized the arrangement, arguing that the cramped conditions were inadequate.
