Jessica Pegula withdraws from WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open

Jessica Pegula has withdrawn from the upcoming Singapore Tennis Open, scheduled for 21-27 September at the Kallang Tennis Hub. The American player, who was set to be the tournament's top seed, cited physical exhaustion following a demanding US Open campaign. In an Instagram statement, Pegula expressed disappointment, stating, “I’m just not quite ready to get back on court and compete at the level I expect from myself.”

The tournament has recently undergone changes, being upgraded from a WTA 250 to a WTA 500 event and moved from February to September. With Pegula's absence, Mirra Andreeva becomes the new top seed. Other notable players in the entry list include Elise Mertens, the defending champion, Amanda Anisimova, and Alexandra Eala. The winner of the tournament is slated to receive $36,300 in prize money.
