Singapore auctions luxury goods seized in $2.4B money laundering case

Singapore is auctioning a massive collection of luxury goods seized during one of the country’s largest money laundering investigations. The total value of seized assets, which includes cash, cryptocurrency, gold, real estate, and high-end consumer items, exceeds 3 billion Singapore dollars (approximately 2.4 billion USD).

The auction process will be conducted through 15 separate sales scheduled between now and May of next year to prevent market saturation. The collection features high-quality items from prestigious brands, including Cartier, Bulgari, Hermès, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. Notable items include a 15.02-carat fancy yellow diamond ring estimated at 200,000 to 300,000 Singapore dollars and various Hermès Kelly handbags.

The investigation, which involved over 400 police officers, led to the conviction of ten Chinese nationals for money laundering and forgery. Deloitte has been appointed to assist in the liquidation of non-cash assets, while the auction house Hotlotz is handling the sale of luxury goods. Proceeds from the auctions will be directed to the state budget.
