Singapore Tops 2026 Henley Passport Index as Visa-Free Access Doubles Worldwide

The 20th edition of the Henley Passport Index, released in July 2026, shows the average passport now provides visa‑free or visa‑on‑arrival entry to 108 destinations, up from 58 in 2006. Singapore remains the most powerful passport, granting access to 192 destinations without prior visas. The United Arab Emirates makes the biggest climb, sharing second place with Japan and South Korea, each offering entry to 188 destinations. The United Kingdom moves to sixth, Canada to seventh, while the United States stays at tenth, still requiring a visa for China.

The widening gap between the strongest and weakest passports is evident: Afghanistan remains at the bottom with access to only 22 destinations, a disparity of 170 compared with Singapore. At the same time, the Global Peace Index records the worst peace outlook since World War II, marking twelve consecutive years of declining global peace and the highest number of interstate conflicts in recent memory.
