Singapore updates company registered address regulations

New regulatory changes in Singapore have altered the requirements for company registered office addresses. As of May 2026, the Corporate and Accounting Laws (Amendment) Act 2025 has removed the long-standing requirement for registered offices to remain open to the public for at least three hours every business day. This has been replaced by a notice-based system where inspections of company records require reasonable prior notice.

Despite these changes, the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) still mandates that every company maintain a physical local registered address. P.O. boxes are not permitted. Businesses must choose from options such as a home office (subject to approval via the Home Office Scheme), a coworking desk, a virtual office, or a registered address service.

Virtual office services have become a common method for founders and overseas entities to establish a legitimate presence without a physical lease. Providers such as Servcorp and The Work Project offer services including mail handling and professional CBD addresses that satisfy ACRA requirements.
