Singaporean man convicted of manslaughter in fatal Perth cycling incident

Ng Jing Kai, a 29-year-old Singaporean man, has been convicted of manslaughter following a fatal incident in Perth, Australia. The incident occurred on May 24, 2024, in Carlisle while Ng was traveling with family and friends.

According to reports, Ng was driving a Kia Carnival when he struck a 48-year-old cyclist. The victim was dragged for more than 30 meters and later died from severe injuries sustained in the collision. The incident is being treated as an act of vigilante justice, stemming from a dispute where Ng alleged the cyclist had taken items from his vehicle and refused to return them.

Ng, who previously faced murder charges, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in August 2026. He remains in custody awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for November 3. In Perth, the maximum penalty for manslaughter is life imprisonment.
