Singaporean man with cerebral palsy passes away at 42

Gunaseelan, a 42-year-old Singaporean man with cerebral palsy, passed away peacefully on August 29. His death was announced by his brother, Suresh Vanaz, who had served as Gunaseelan’s primary caregiver for over 20 years following the passing of their mother.

Due to his condition, Gunaseelan was immobile from the neck down and required full assistance with daily activities, including feeding, bathing, and medication. Despite these challenges, he led an active life through outings organized by his brother. Notably, Suresh would carry Gunaseelan up the Batu Caves in Malaysia every year during the Thaipusam festival as an act of devotion.

In a tribute shared on social media, Suresh expressed profound grief, stating that words could not express the pain of the loss. He noted that his brother had taught him to remain strong and had given him a sense of purpose.
