Singaporean tourist critically injured in Taichung bus accident

A 67-year-old Singaporean tourist was critically injured after being struck by a Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport bus at a junction in Taichung, Taiwan, on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:11 a.m. at the intersection of Minsheng Road and Ziyou Road in the West District. Surveillance footage and eyewitnesses indicate the bus was moving slowly while making a right turn when it struck the woman, who was using the pedestrian crossing. The victim became trapped beneath the vehicle’s front-right wheel.

Emergency responders used lifting equipment to free the woman, who suffered open fractures to her right upper arm and left lower limb, as well as a fractured pelvis. She experienced out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) at the scene, but her vital signs returned during transport to China Medical University Hospital. The driver, a 45-year-old man, stated he had stopped before turning and did not see the pedestrian before the impact. Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
