Singaporeans report low preparedness for next decade

According to the Etiqa Insurance Singapore Life Preparedness Survey 2026, only 49% of Singaporeans feel prepared for the upcoming decade. The study, conducted by Kantar among 1,017 citizens and permanent residents, reveals a gap between proactive behaviors and actual confidence regarding the future.

While 76% of respondents have taken steps to address concerns for 2026, financial security remains the primary definition of preparedness for 68% of the population. Nearly half of those surveyed (47%) identified a lack of money as the greatest barrier to being future-ready, surpassing concerns regarding lack of knowledge, time, or motivation.

Respondents indicated they are most likely to improve preparedness by increasing savings (55%), exercising regularly (49%), and spending more time with loved ones (38%). Key concerns cited include financial worries (49%), conflict issues (32%), and lack of exercise (30%).
