Singareni and TGGENCO plan 75,500-tonne daily coal supply

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGENCO) have established a joint action plan to supply 75,500 tonnes of coal daily to the state’s thermal power plants. This strategy aims to meet rising electricity demands driven by dry weather conditions associated with El Niño.

The logistics plan involves transporting 56,000 tonnes via 14 railway rakes and 19,500 tonnes by road. Specific daily requirements were identified for several major stations, including Yadadri (34,000 tonnes), Kothagudem (24,000 tonnes), Bhadradri (15,000 tonnes), and Kakatiya (4,500 tonnes).

Coal distribution has seen significant growth, with 15.02 lakh tonnes supplied by road and rail as of September 28, representing a 31% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge follows a historic high in power demand, which reached 12,044 MW on September 29.
