Singer and actor Tam Yiu-man receives versatile talent award

Singer and actor Tam Yiu-man was honored with the ‘All-around Song, Film, and Television Award’ at the 9th Asia International Brand Festival in Tsim Sha Tsui. During the event, Tam reflected on his career milestones, including the satisfaction of restarting his singing career last year and performing his first solo concert after 37 years in the industry.

Tam discussed his professional boundaries in acting, noting that he maintains strict principles for the roles he accepts, such as refusing to play rapists or characters who strike their mothers. He shared an anecdote regarding a time he refused an impromptu request to film an intimate scene with a model on a sofa, citing a lack of prior consultation and his professional standards as a performer.

Regarding intimate scenes, Tam emphasized the importance of communication and respecting co-stars, suggesting that techniques like camera positioning should be used if an actress feels a scene exceeds her comfort level. He also expressed admiration for the artistic sacrifices made by actors in recent cinema, noting that such performances require trust in a director’s vision.
